Greetings and welcome to LED’s Education section! In this era of fast-paced technology, I am absolutely thrilled you have decided to stop by for a visit. I am Sister John Dominic, one of the founders of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. I have been involved with Catholic education now for over 30 years. Two of my greatest privileges have been developing the education resources for Disciple of Christ Education in Virtue, and serving as General Editor for Lumen Ecclesiae Press, a publishing outlet to share the fruits of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. It really took all these years working with teachers and administrators to answer the question: “How can we teach the truths of the Church?”

When you look at catechesis in Catholic schools, we have the doctrine or the deposit of faith, which includes scripture and tradition. You can memorize what is the incarnation and what is redemption or the Ten Commandments, but when you begin to look at how to live this out, how to live out your life in Christ, it is difficult. That is what we have set out to do with our resources.
Lumen Ecclesiae Press grew out of the sisters and I working at schools as teachers and principals – really the main educators for these saints of tomorrow. We came together to create these resources as our call to magnanimity, our opportunity to be a large soul and do something greater for the church.
Unfortunately, we can’t be everywhere. We don’t have enough sisters (yet) to be in every school, but we can provide resources to help deepen and further Catholic education. Right now, there are over 400 schools that use our books and resources all around the world. It is my dream that every school will be able to have all or some portion of them. That way we can begin to have this lexicon, this language to change the atmosphere of schools from negative to positive and to change hearts, minds and souls.
For an introduction to some of our education materials, I invite you to start at the beginning and take a look at the seven-part series for Disciple of Christ Education in Virtue. Here we touch upon why and how virtue brings us freedom for excellence and desire for happiness. We also study and take a closer look at the theological, the cardinal virtues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. As we take you into Catholic classrooms we will answer the question, “What is Catholic identity?” You will see sisters and other lay teachers that have figured out how to teach this concept, and creative ways they have implemented the resources in their classrooms. In forthcoming articles, we will provide articles and insights from Bishops, Deacons, doctors, teachers, parents and professional athletes on the spiritual, mental and physical benefits of using our resources to transform today’s souls into tomorrow’s saints.
I appreciate you spending time with us and encourage you to visit gole.global, subscribe to our YouTube channel, or check back here frequently so we can stay in touch with one another. I know it will be time well spent. God bless you.
